Cutting Edge Training’s "Impact Weapons Instructor: TRAIN-THE-TRAINER"
is unique in all of law enforcement. This course provides instruction
for those officers and trainers tasked with training other officers in
impact weapons to defend against physical assault as well as
controlling suspects. In-depth explanations of why the Universal
Rules and Principles of Defense© are the basis of all
successful impact weapons employment are offered. Additionally,
instructor-candidates are presented and expected to practice the
latest in physical skills training theory and lesson plan
documentation. Documentation of force training, in combination with
all of the skills and mastery of the course topics, sets this training

Our
baton response employment philosophy is simple: if a suspect's
behavior and actions are so out of control that he forces an officer
to resort to a baton, the officer's reasonable response is to strike
that subject as few times as possible in order to stop the fight as
early as possible. There is no reliance upon some mysterious
"fluid shock" theory that benefits only the suspect and baton
manufacturers, resulting in a greater number of increasingly difficult
to justify strikes. Instead, that means an effective force
response to effective, reasonable targets to get the situation
resolved quickly with the fewest number of injuries. Throughout this
baton training, every strike is predicated upon articulating the
reasonableness of that strike in the context of the employment.
Our instructor-candidates hear and repeat the law regarding the use of
force constantly within the class. We employ the simplest yet
most effective training program in existence, while maintaining strict
liability exposure mitigation.
 We
take less time to provide more to the instructor-candidate than other
instructor courses do in 80-hours over two weeks. The Impact Weapons
Instructor training is an integrated force philosophy that is the
most effective method of employing this level of force by police. The
instructor-candidate is trained in how to train methods
designed to increase the effectiveness of the officer in any
threatening situation that calls for the use of an impact weapon.
