Focus: SWAT,
narcotics, and patrol officers

This course provides
integrated team movement and force employment in those situations
where a shield is called for. Too often, the shield is misapplied and
the shield-officer mis-employed.
This
course follows combat realities. We know that as stress increases,
humans perform one task well, and multiple tasks poorly.
We employ the philosophy that the shield-officer should be employed as
a shield-holder only. We’ve found in training that the more
duties assigned to the officer with the shield, the less the officer
concentrates on maintaining a square frontal shield to the threat.
Whether employed in a tactical team environment, or as an expedient
patrol option, the ballistic shield is a valuable tool when utilized
properly. This course minimally covers: Movement with the
shield, Responding to the deadly threat, Close defense with the
shield, and Practical application scenario/live fire exercises.
