Focus:
Beginning or current firearms instructors tasked with implementing
tactical, practical, realistic, and defensible handgun training within any agency.
Length: 40 hours
The
emphasis of this course is primarily “how to teach” the tactical
employment of police handguns for your officers' real-world needs:
hitting an armed deadly Threat in the real-world who is from
contact-to-talking-distance away. In the real-world, officers
are often late to a gunfight, because it is the suspect who is always
driving the event, and the officer is forced to respond. Their
tactics must support this reality of being close to the person trying
to kill them, of being late, of the driving need to put rounds
on-target on-time, in-time. Officers face the reality of being
physically assaulted by a suspect and then having the need to
respond to the suspect's extreme actions with deadly force while still
struggling with the suspect. The deadliest suspect-police
confrontations generally occur at extremely close ranges in a variety
of circumstances, rarely in situations of the officer's choosing, and
always are driven by the officer's need to respond to the suspect's
decision to severely injure or kill the officer or others.
This course provides your agency instructors with the material and the
"how-to's" of accomplishing the instruction your officers need to
survive against today's threats
where
shooting and hitting another person means your officers get to go
home today. It is about REAL-WORLD tactics that have been proven
over decades and through history to keep officers alive during those
violent, sudden, and vicious, and short-lived police firefights.
Too many
"instructor" courses turn out to be glorified end-user courses where
the instructor becomes a better shooter--and fails to become a better
"instructor." NOT THIS COURSE...our
prime goal is to train your agency instructor in how to teach.
While your instructor typically gains personal skills and increases
his/her hit potential in the real-world, we teach "how to teach."
While some instructional time is taken in “how to shoot,” the core of
the course is in training police instructors in how to teach their
officers to be tactically sound while hitting the target in
police-combat conditions. Strict adherence to sound tactical
doctrine is practiced and trained throughout the week. This
course utilizes a "building block" approach, where the
instructor-candidate will move progressively through basic tactical
instruction through advanced instruction in police fire
employment--including Live-Fire Combatives where officers are prepared
in a live-fire environment to physically defend against assault and
respond with deadly force. Instructor candidates will, at the
conclusion of training, be capable of developing and presenting sound
tactical and close-combatives training to agency officers that is
safe, documented, and most of all, effective.
CUTTING EDGE
TRAINING's
Tactical Handgun
program was developed with the street cop in mind, and has been shown over
the years to be incredibly effective in keeping officers alive in the worst
situations possible. It
remains the only program of its kind that was “reverse-engineered” to
achieve survival goals. We studied how police officers are
murdered and assaulted in the real-world. Then we put that
knowledge together with how the human being inside the uniform
actually reacts in that pressure-filled, life and death environment,
and created a training system that is sweeping the law enforcement
community’s understanding of how to put bullets on-target in-time in
order to survive. There are no "game philosophies" designed to
speed up the shooter's firing rate at the expense of life-saving
tactics and hit accuracy. The emphasis is solely on real-world
gunfights: recognizing the Threat early enough to make a
difference, reacting tactically to avoid being hit while hitting a
suspect sufficiently well enough to significantly affect his or her
ability to harm you or others. Finally, this course also
emphasizes your very real need to defend your actions in the
inevitable post-shooting aftermath.
These courses avoid dogma and “which stance
must be used” arguments--that is about the instructor's ego and has no
bearing on hitting a suspect who is inches away and reaching for a
handgun in his waistband. Instead, we concentrate on the areas where
officers have a real need for training to survive: Up close, sudden
responses to deadly attacks utilizing realistic methods that every
officer can use. This is the future of police handgun training.
Your agency instructors can begin teaching it today.
We
teach your agency instructors how to train your officers
to fight with their handguns in the real-world...
...tactically...practically...realistically...defensibly!
